California

Greetings from Southern California! (Sunny, warmer than Cedar City, Southern California!) Here we (James, my dad and me) sitting on the back porch of my dad's house chatting about life and the economy. We drove down here yesterday after picking up Bailey at the Vegas airport.

James had a job interview this morning and turns out they loved him and now he has a job! Not sure if we are happy about this or not. It's great that he has a job but its back here in Southern California so not sure if we will eventually be moving back or not. James is going to stay down here and work for a few month to make sure he enjoys the job before the family packs up and moves AGAIN!!!

I always miss living in Southern California when I came down to visit this time of year. Southern California is so beautiful right now. The mountains are green from the recent rain, the weather is perfect (65-75), and the smog is hardly noticeable. Plus In-N-Out is right around the corner, of course its always around the corner no matter what time of year we are here visiting. Then because I miss it I always tell James, "sure we can move down there" but then I hate it when the summer hits and its 110 degrees, its smogy and the mountains are ugly brown...and that's when I miss living in Cedar City. I need to have two houses, one in Cedar City for the summer and one in Southern California for the winter! If only....right?
When I get back to Cedar I'll fill everyone in on our Christmas and post some pictures from Christmas and New Years here in California! Everyone have a wonderful end to 2008 and beginning of 2009!

Christmas Eve with the Wellers

For Christmas Eve we went to our friends house to have dinner with them. It was a lot of fun. We had great food, great conversation and it left us with great memories. After James, Asher and I left we stopped by James' parents house to wish them a merry Christmas Eve and then headed home. Asher was exhausted and went right to sleep (remember he and I had been up since 6 that morning, of course he had naps). With Asher asleep and the rest of the kids at their other parents house that left just James and me so we decided to stick with trandition and watch Christmas Vacation. I have to watch that movie every year. Usually we watch it Thanksgiving weekend to get us in the Christmas spirit but we kept forgetting about it. I didn't make it through the whole movie, I was so tired. But it was a great night and I'm so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in my life. Here are a few pictures:

All I want for Christmas...

Well Asher can't wish anyone a Merry Christmas, but he did wake up this morning with one of his top two teeth breaking through his gums! How cute is that, getting a top tooth Christmas morning?

Merry Christmas everyone, we love you and wish you all the happiest day!

It could only happen to us

Had to make a new post really quickly to let everyone know we ran out of gas in the Jeep just about two blocks from the gas station today. We had to have some guy in a small truck push us to the gas station. I swear, James can't go a month without running out of gas in one of the cars :)

Its way too early!

So Asher has this new schedule...and it involves waking up at 6 am with so much energy there is no hope for him falling back asleep. This is the 4th day in a row he has gotten up this early. He was sleeping until 8 am before this and I had no idea how wonderful I had it until now!

Well its Christmas Eve. I can't believe this year has gone by so quickly. Its been year of such highs and lows that I can't decide if I'm sad to see it come to an end or happy. Asher is such a blessing to our family (even when he wakes up at 6 am). He is like the glue that holds us all together, I'm not really sure why we waited so long to have him. I am sad that we won't be in California this Christmas Eve to have our Riley Christmas with my dad and Kimmie. We will miss everyone there, but we are looking forward to Dad and Kimmie's visit the day after Christmas. I miss Bailey tons this year. I think its because he has been talking about moving to his dad's the end of this school and I am just beginning to realize how much I will miss him when he does move there. I know that he is having a great time there though and that makes me happy.

We are going to our friends the Weller's house tonight to have a family candlelight dinner. I am really looking forward to that. We really enjoying spending time with them. Patti is due any day now with her little boy and I can't wait to meet him. I'm just happy that someone else is having a little boy so I can give away all of the clothes Asher never fit into. All of my other friends and family that are pregnant are having little girls.

I thought it would be fun to post some pictures from Christmases past so everyone can see just how much our kids have grown since James and I got married.

All kinds of rolling

Asher and I are sitting here watching the huge snow clouds rolling in on Enoch from all sides. It looks like we are in for a week worth of snow storms, one right after another. Should be interesting to see how much snow we have by Friday. I guess we'll be having a white Christmas this year :)

And another type of rolling. Asher is finally rolling over from his tummy to his back. I was so happy to see him do it the other night. James saw him do it the Saturday after Thanksgiving but I wasn't watching and missed it. Now I've seen him do it a few times :) YEAH!!!

I've also been rolling out cookie dough and making Christmas cookies. I just can't make them fast enough for Bailey to eat them. Crazy kid.

Hope everyone has a great weekend...if you don't hear from us in a few days come dig us out of all the snow we are supposed to get..hehe!!!

Random Ramblings....

So, James and I had to make a quick trip into Vegas yesterday, we got fuel for $1.47 a gallon!!! That was actually here in Cedar City though, not in Vegas, I noticed in Vegas it was still up around $1.89 a gallon. The bad part is that today its up to $1.51 already. I hope it isn't going to climb as quickly as it went down.

I'm re-reading the Twilight series of books again. After seeing the movie I wanted to see what parts they had left out so I read the first book again. And once I read the first one I had to keep going. I'm on the third one already. James wants to read them now too, after seeing the movie. He started the first one right after I finished it, but he can't sit for a long time just reading so it may take him a little longer to finish it than it did me. And can I just say, the movies are NEVER as good as the books...Da Vinci Code, Where the Heart Is, The Green Mile, and now Twilight, all of these movies were disappointments because I read the books first! Just goes to show, my imagination is way better than anything Hollywood can come up with!

James has two recruiters working on finding him a job right now. I hope one of them comes through soon. They have a few things in the works, only one problem with all of them...they aren't here in Cedar City which means we will probably be moving...AGAIN! UGH!!!!!!! I have no idea where we will end up, but I pray that where ever it is, its a place we will be staying for an extended period of time...which for us is about 2 years! LOL!!!

Asher had to get shots on Monday...poor little man. He did not feel well all day after that. And this morning he woke up not feeling well again, I think it was something we ate because James and Bailey also had stomach aches. Asher is getting so big though, of course he started out big so its no surprise that he is continuing with that streak. He weighed 19 pounds 6 ounces on Monday and was 27" long. He is the cutest little boy though. He has found his tongue and has it constantly sticking out. He also does the sweetest thing with his hand, he scratches at different objects with the tips of his fingers, I think he is feeling all the different fabrics and materials of his surroundings. He does it to his hair when I am feeding him, he kinda looks like a little monkey. He hasn't rolled over yet, well James said he rolled over on Sunday but I didn't see it and he hasn't done it again since. He still only has two teeth (HA! ONLY!!!) a 5 month old with two teeth that he has actually had for 2 months!

Josten moved out of our house and into a townhome with some buddies of his. I think he is really enjoying it. He comes over every night to work out and lift weights (and steal some food) so we still see him very often. In fact we probably see him more now then when he actually lived with us!

Well, that's the latest update with the Sherratts and the Amo. Our life is so crazy and there are so many of us that I'm sure I'll have a whole new bunch of stuff to report in a few days. But until then...we love you all and hope that this last month of 2008 finds you happy and healthy!

Our daughter-in-law (soon)

Our soon to be daughter-in-law's mother passed away yesterday and I just wanted to post a blog to tell her how much we love her and hope that she is doing well. Jadeth said Whitnee is taking it pretty hard and we just want her to know that she is in our thoughts and prayers. I feel so awful for her, she is only 21, pregnant and about to get married and I can't imagine what it would be like to go through all of that without my mother.

Post-Thanksgiving

Well Thanksgiving has come and gone, thank goodness. I had a great time with family but I'm glad its over. Now I'm just in shock that its only 24 days until Christmas. Who's idea was it to put these holidays so close together anyway??
While we had all the family together for Thanksgiving we took some family pictures. We had planned on taking them at a park in Cedar City but the weather did not cooperate, so we had to take them in the house. They didn't turn out as well as I would have liked but they work for now. Here are a few.

James, me and Asher (it was almost impossible to get a picture of him without his hand in his mouth!)

Asher and his mommy, would you just look at that smile...is he not the cutest little boy you have ever seen!

The whole family from left to right - Whitnee (and Jade), Jadeth, Jared, Josten, Me, James, Sabelle, Bailey and Asher.

All of us again!

And all of the kids. Its a pretty cute family! :) The picture below was of us a year ago on the cruise for Thanksgiving, crazy how life changes in only 365 days!

$1.83!!!!

Yes, that is the price of a gallon of unleaded here in Cedar City! I can't believe that just a couple of months ago it was over $4.00 and now its $1.83. I took a picture with my phone in case no one believed me, when I finally get my phone connected to this computer I will post the picture for all the world to see!!! I can't really remember when gas was below $2.00 last. I remember just a month ago James saying to me that we would probably never see it below $3.00 again and here it is $1.83! This is one time James was happy to be wrong.

Well over the weekend we went to see Jared up in Draper. He is doing well, as well as he can be where he is. He was happy to have 24 hours away from Genesis to spend with his family. We didn't do to much; we went out to dinner on Saturday night (Yummy Thai food) and on Sunday we went to the Gateway to walk around. It was a nice sunny day out, not too warm, but sunny. Asher did great in the car on the way there, especially considering how he use to be in his carseat. The way home wasn't as wonderful as the way there but who can blame him, he was in a carseat or stroller for most of the day.
We took Asher to the doctor's on Friday because his cold would not go away, he had it for almost 3 weeks. We found out that he has a sinus infection. But even with the infection he was still the happiest little boy. I also think he might be getting one of his top teeth in. Hard to believe that he would have 3 teeth before turning 5 months old but it looks like it might be happening.
So that's about all that is happening here with our family. I'm excited that Thanksgiving is coming soon. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love it because you get to see family and eat great food but you don't have to stress about what kinds of gifts to buy for your family. Its the perfect holiday if you ask me!
P.S. Tomorrow is my birthday...and it doesn't even feel like it!

Halloween

Woohoo...look at me, updating my blog and it hasn't even been a whole week since my last post! I'm very proud of myself!

I wanted to post some pictures from Halloween. Can I just say that I have some really adorable kids! Just look...

Don't you just love my scary witch looking thing I put on my porch right next to the front door? All the kids love it, well except the little kids that are start to cry when they come to the door. Anyway, trick or treating was fun. We (Bailey, Asher and I) met up with our friends the Free's and walked the neighborhood with them. They were really cute, the whole family was dressed up as the 1950s, there are 10 of them in the family and they looked great! Bailey got lots of candy and had fun all at the same time. He wouldn't wear the hat trick or treating, he said it looked goofy, in fact I could barely get him to wear it for the pictures. I hope everyone had a great Halloween! Keep checking back, I'll have more pictures and updates soon!

Just trying to catch up!

So, its been a while since my last post, and I know like the last 3 post start off that same way but I am really going to try to keep this thing up to date, my goal is to at least post once a week to keep family and friends updated.
This week was a long week. Asher was sick with a really awful cold. Then I caught some form of it. Now I have this annoying cough that won't go away. Bailey wasn't feeling really well at the beginning of the week either. But yesterday things started to turn around. We all finally felt well enough to get outside and carve our pumpkins. That was a lot of fun. I think the boys really enjoyed it.

We also got Bailey's costume finished, he is going to be a scarecrow. I wanted to make Asher a lion, you know, sort of a Wizard of Oz theme but my sewing machine broke down on me. I went to Walmart (the only store in Cedar that sells costumes) to see if I could find Asher something cute but the only thing they had in his size was a monkey with a banana on his head, it was goofy looking. So I called my step mom and asked her to find him something in California and have my dad bring it up with him on his way to Panguitch, he should be here today with a very cute chicken costume, or so I'm told.
James is still working down in California, this is his last week. He is having a difficult time finding something close to Enoch. Which means he is gone all week and then has to drive home during the weekends. We don't get to see much of him right now. I'm hoping that will change soon.
Asher is growing so fast. He is over 4 months old now. He got two teeth the beginning of October, one right after the other. I can't believe he has teeth already! He weighed 18lbs 11oz when I took him to the doctor's the other day for his cold. He is so alert and adorable. He laughs and smiles constantly. Even with this cold he has a been a really happy little boy. He loves sucking on his hand and wrist, or anything else he can get into his mouth.
My mom was up for a visit two weekends ago. We had a good time just hanging out and visiting. The weather was great while she was here so we went to the park. That's what these pictures are from.

Well until next time...everyone have a great Halloween! Stay safe!

Goodbye Summer...Hello Fall!

Hello from California...still! Just wanted to stop by the blog and get caught up again. Life is still crazy, will it ever been calm again? Was it ever calm in the first place? HA! Asher is doing well. He has a doctor's appointment this week for his two month check up. Yes its a little late but we had to wait for insurance to kick in before we could go. He has what is known as an umbilical hernia, I think. I've read up on it on the internet and it seems painless and some what normal. It should heal itself on its own but I'd like the doctor to verify that for me when we go in. He is sleeping well and eating tons. I'm not sure but I'm guessing he weighs close to 20 pounds by now and barely 2 1/2 months old, can you believe that? He is already wearing 6-9 month clothing and size 3 diapers! He is a very happy baby and I couldn't love him anymore than I do.

Bailey is doing well in school. He started a new school again this year. He has made friends quickly and hangs out with them after school most days. He has lots of homework most nights and it is a struggle to get him to complete it all but he is a good boy and gets it all done just in time for bed :) He is going to see his dad in October when he has a 4 week break from school. He is really excited about that.

Josten is home. He has been struggling with the job market down here. No one seems to be hiring. He didn't get to start college because without a job he didn't have the money to pay the tuition, plus he didn't try to register until a week before school started so that put him behind. He is hoping to start the Spring semester.

Jadeth is now engaged to Whitnee, they have been dating on and off for a couple of years now. She is expecting a baby early April. They are both very excited and a little nervous but we are happy for them, they both seem to be growing up quickly. Jadeth is in Hawaii right now, for a couple of weeks, with his job. He just got a raise and is hoping to get promoted to foreman here any day.

We didn't get to see much of Sabelle when we were in Panguitch for a visit. She had some stuff with school she had to get done and was unable to come up with us. She has a good job and is hoping to get more hours soon. Her and her boyfriend, Chad, are still together and that seems to make her happy. We miss her and hope she can come visit us soon.

Jared is trying to get things worked out for himself. He is struggling a little but we are all praying he will realize what matters most to him and get things straight in his head. We just hope he knows we love him! He did hang out with us in Panguitch and we had such a great time with him up there. Bailey loved riding the 4-wheeler with him and Asher just loves his big brother.

James and I are doing well, just trying to make it through this strange thing they are calling the economy. We are just enjoying our family as much as possible and making the most of what we have!

More updates!

So back a month ago I attempt to update everyone on our family but I never got finished. I thought I'd save the biggest news for last and then never got the time to write about him! (because he woke up from his nap)

On June 20, 2008 we added Asher James Sherratt to our family. He was born via c-section at 11:22am. He was a big boy, weighing 9 lbs 3 oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. I couldn't believe he was that big! His birth was pretty easy, considering it was surgery. I went into the hospital Friday morning and left Sunday afternoon. Recovery was pretty easy. I was a little sore for a few days but within a week I was feeling pretty close to myself again. He is such a sweet little boy. He is growing tons, not even two months old yet and I'm sure he is over 15 lbs already.

He is so adorable! Here are a few pictures of him to prove it!!!

Update on our family

I can't believe its been so long since I have last posted to the blog. Life has been crazy with a new born. Let me update everyone on our family.

Bailey went to visit his dad in Indiana the end of May when he go
t out of school and came home the 28th of June. He had a really good time hanging out with his dad for a month, they went to water parks (yes, more than one), saw lots of movies, rode bikes and he also got to visit with his Papa and Grandma Amo from Palm Springs. He is now getting ready to go back to school on the 28th of July. Thankfully he will be starting here at Todd Elementary instead of going to Temescal which I had to drive him to everyday. He is excited and bummed at the same time, he didn't get that long of a summer but he is excited t
o start this new school. Right before school ended he went on a field trip to a creek to release
the trout they had been growing in their classroom for a few weeks. Here are some pictures of that field trip.

Josten graduated from high school on the 12th of June. There were tons of people in his graduating class, I swear it took forever to get to the end of all those names. James' parents were able to make it down from Cedar City, UT to be at Josten's graduation, that was very special. Also Josten's mom Vikki and Sabelle were able to make it down also, we had a house full for a couple of days. After graduation Josten headed up to Cedar City to hang out with his friends. I think it was hard for him to finally come home, he was having too much fun up there, but he ran out of money and needed to get home to find a job. He is planning on registering for the community college here in Southern California for the fall. Not sure yet what program he wants to go into, probably something with computers, but time will tell. Here are some pictures of his graduation.

Jadeth was in Hawaii for a few weeks working. He is suppose to be going back for 9 months here in a few weeks. Luckily he was able to come visit us for the 4th of July and see Asher. We had a good time while him and Whitnee were here. They went to Magic Mountain one day, we meet James for lunch another day and we went to the beach for the 4th. The beach was so crowded! I can't believe we were able to actually find a spot close enough to the water to see it. We had planned on staying at the beach to watch the fireworks but it got too cold for the new baby and we drove to the lake (Lake Elsinore) by our house and watch them from there. It was still a good time.

Another month gone by...

The weeks are flying by. Or at least when I look back on them they seem to have gone by quickly, but during is a different story. Life in California is quickly becoming a routine, which is nice. Josten is living with us again and finishing his senior year at Centennial High School in Corona, CA. We are glad to have him here with us. He will graduate the middle of June and we are so proud of him. Bailey is doing well in school also. He is on year-around schooling so he will actually get out of the 4th grade the end of May, which is nice for him. James' job is becoming more and more demanding but he loves it. Some days he works really long hours but in an economy like this I guess that's what it takes to keep your job. I am keeping busy with doctor's appointments, non-stress tests and keeping up with the kids. I think I work more now then I did when I had a job, its crazy. Yesterday was so busy! Gizmo (our puppy) has kennel cough, which I guess is like the common cold for dogs, so we spent an hour and a half at the Vet's getting him medicine, which is a pain in the butt to give to him. Then after that little trip I came home in time to relax for about 20 minutes before picking up Bailey for school. I had another ultra sound scheduled for 3:30 yesterday so Bailey and I left the house around 2:30 so we could stop off at the library first. We had books to return and Bailey wanted to check out some others. Luckily the library and the ultra sound office are in the same parking lot so that worked out well for us. We got to the ultra sound office around 3:25 and didn't actually get in to have the ultra sound until 4:45...its ridiculous! But in the end it was all worth it. Asher is doing very well! His kidneys have cleared up so there is no more worry there. He is growing by leaps and bounds, he now weighs 4lbs 7oz, he gained 2lbs in a month! What a little piglet! The ultra sound tech said his head is big, thank goodness I am having a c-section. I have another ultra sound scheduled for the 29th of May, by then he should be weighing somewhere close to 7 pounds, YIKES! Bailey was 7lbs 9 oz when I had him. Right now I have the c-section scheduled for the 17th of June, if I wait that long Asher will be closer to 9lbs at birth, that's huge! I have a feeling I won't make it past the first week of June, but I've been wrong before. James is hoping I will go into labor on the 7th of June so Asher's birthday will be 06-07-08, which would be easy to remember...HA! Below are the recent ultra sound pictures (we got 3D pics for free...awesome!) and the latest picture of me (taken April 15th @ 30weeks). The time is going so fast, I can't believe he will be here so soon. Seems like just yesterday I was just finding out I was pregnant. Thanks for stopping by our blog! I'll keep everyone posted on how the next two months go!

Woohoo It's Friday!

Hello all! As I promised, a new picture of Asher from the ultra sound. So here he is. Its a picture of his face, you should be able to make out an eye on the left side and then it looks to me like he is smiling, a cheesy smile, but a smile nonetheless!

The ultra sound went very well. They are still concerned about the urine that is backing up in his kidneys so they want me back in another 4 weeks to monitor him. They also want me in twice a week for Non-stress tests, basically they will put two belts on my stomach, one will measure Asher's heart rate while the other will monitor for contractions. Good thing I'm not working anymore, twice a week for an hour is a lot to ask off of work! The doctor that did the ultra sound also said that it appears I am much further along then I originally thought. According to this ultra sound Asher is due closer to the 7th of June instead of the 24th. That's exciting news for me, it just means I get to meet him that much sooner! The doctor also told me that I WILL be having a C-Section again. I guess in California you don't get a choice of trying it the natural way once you've already had one c-section, no matter what the reason for the first c-section was, so I will be scheduling that about a week or two before my due date which means he could be here as early as the end of May...crazy! Its coming quickly and I am NOT ready at all yet. Gosh that's only about 9 weeks away! YIKES! I better get started on his room soon!

Easter is this Sunday...I can't believe its so early this year. I have tons of family members coming over, including my mom and step dad Rocky, who will actually be here some time today so I guess I better get going, get this house cleaned before they show up! Have a wonderful Easter everyone!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

It looks as if I only plan on writing a blog on holidays but that isn't true, its just been a very hectic month with moving and all. Now things seem to be calming down and I figured it was time to catch everyone up.

We are now living in Corona, CA. Loving it here so far, its a lot warmer and the sun shines most days. A lot of my family is close by and I've seen them often since moving here. Here is a picture of the front of the house we are renting. We are waiting for a few more months before we look into buying. And yes I am driving that beast of a truck around now since the Jeep gets better gas mileage! James is looking into buying a motorcycle to get back and forth to work but it freaks me out. I'm sure he'll love it though.
Our neighborhood is really nice. We have a pool, well two pools and a kiddie area, an exercise room, a big park and tons of walking paths. Bailey and I have been to the pool a couple of times already, but only he is crazy enough to actually go in the cold water, I just sit on the pool deck and read my books in the warm weather. The walking paths are great, I walk almost every morning after I drop Bailey off at school. We haven't used the the exercise room yet but Bailey has been down to the park a few times and really enjoys it. Here is a picture of the beautiful mountains our neighborhood backs up to. They are beautiful and green right now, they remind me of the mountains I saw in Hawaii a couple of years ago. The picture is taken from my front yard so the other houses are in the way, I'll have to take a camera with me when I go walking in the mornings and take some better pictures.

My favorite thing to do so far is to go down to Tom's Farms and spend a few hours there. They have a couple of places to eat there, a fruit stand, a wine and cheese shop and tons of things for the kids to do. They also have a pond in the middle and lots of tables and chairs around to sit and have lunch. We went there the first full day we were here in California for lunch and it was wonderful sitting by the pond, eating lunch with family and the warm sun shinning all around. A lot different from the snow we left in Cedar City, that's for sure! We also went to a comedy show there one Thursday night. It was good and the comedians were really funny. And the fruit is wonderful! I've eaten so much of it already, I missed California fruit! OH and they also have a candy shop, I try to stay away from that place but Bailey and James always find a way to sneak candy into our basket! If anyone of you ever come to Southern California make sure you stop by Tom's Farms, its a great place to spend a lovely afternoon with your family.

Bailey is liking his new teacher. He says he is very funny and I'm glad that he is starting to fit in at his new school. We actually live about a block and a half from a brand new school called Todd Elementary, but when we went to register Bailey we found out that Todd's 4th grade was completely full so we actually have to take him to the next closest school which is about 10 miles away. The school district just started a bus from Todd to this other school this morning so I don't have to drive him there every morning and pick him up every afternoon.

Well I will try to keep this a little more updated now. I have another ultra sound on Wednesday so I will have another blog on Wednesday with new pictures of Asher! Stay tuned!

Life is Crazy!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!!!!!

Well let's see, where do I start. The 9th of February was James' birthday (his 40th!!). We had a quiet dinner at home with the kids, we have a party planned this weekend. It should be fun, lots of family coming up for it.

James also got himself a job in Southern California, so we are moving back! I told you life was crazy. It is a really wonderful opportunity and we just couldn't say no. We are a little worried about what to do with our house here in Cedar with the market the way it is, but we are hoping we will be able to at least rent it until we are able to sale it. I told work yesterday that we were leaving the end of February and they didn't seem that upset about losing me...oh well, I think they expected me to be leaving when the baby was born anyway so a few month earlier isn't that big of a deal.

So life isn't the only thing that is crazy around here...how about the weather?!?!?! Yesterday it was sunny, clear and warmer than normal, it was 54 degrees! I was loving it, hoping Spring was right around the corner. This morning we woke up to this! About 8" of new snow! Can you believe it? I think after this storm James is even more anxious to be out of cold Utah and back in sunny Southern California. I guess I don't blame him, of course I will miss the seasons we have here in Utah. My dad said that its been 80 degrees in Riverside, CA the last little while, not really the weather you expect for the middle of February! I know I will really miss Cedar City when its 110 degrees the middle of August is Southern California and only 85-90 in Cedar City! Good thing there are a lot of lakes close by and we have a boat! So its 10:05 am and right now I think James is at home getting all that snow off of our driveway and yes, that picture is taken from the END of our driveway, it is that LONG! Good thing he bought a snow blower a few storms ago, makes his life a little easier.

So in the coming weeks we will be packing up all of our stuff and making our way to Corona, CA. I will miss all of our friends and family here in Cedar City, Utah. I will miss the slow paced lifestyle that comes with living here, but I am so ready to have a MALL close by :) Well I'll keep everyone posted on our move. Thanks for stopping by :)

What a long week!

I know I am seriously slacking here. It has been a long week.

Monday was the ultra sound where we found out we are having a little boy, whose name is going to be....Asher James Sherratt. After the ultra sound I came to work and by 2:30 Bailey's school was calling me to tell me school was shut down for the rest of the day due to the snow storm we were having at the time. It knocked out our power in Enoch, so with no heat in the school they sent the kids home. I think we ended up with about 4-6" of snow, which isn't a lot of this part of Utah, but the fact that it dumped on us in about 1-2 hours makes it a lot, plus the winds were so crazy. I heard on the weather report later that day that Brianhead (the ski resort about 30 minutes from us) had wind gusts of 110mph at the peak!!!

Tuesday was a normal day, kids at school, I went to work. No new snow, just the clean up from the day before. It was pretty quiet around our house.

Wednesday I did not feel well at all so I stayed home from work. We had a follow up doctors appointment at 11 to go over the ultra sound results. My blood pressure was apparently very low compared to normal, probably because of the cold or flu I have, luckily I didn't have a fever or test positive for strep. The ultra sound tech was apparently concerned with the way Asher's kidneys are looking. From what the doctor told us they may not be functioning properly so they want to do another ultra sound in 4-6 weeks. Dr Allen told us not to worry, he isn't worried. He said the ultra sound shows plenty of ambiotic fluid around the baby which is baby urine, which means the kidneys are working. He said to just think of it as an excuse to get to see Asher again! Lucky us! Our next appointment to see the doctor is the 28th of February, I'm not sure when the ultra sound will be, Dr Allen said we would schedule it on that appointment. After the doctor's appointment and a quick lunch with James I went home and slept for about 2 1/2 hours, which made it impossible to sleep that night! I never sleep well the nights that I take a nap, even if I am sick.

Thursday was another busy day. Bailey and I had to get up an extra hour early to get him to his dentist appointment. They had to pull 5 teeth! Poor little man! After a very funny 20 minutes of the medicine taking affect on him, he was finally asleep and ready to get them pulled. I waited in the waiting room for about 20-25 minutes until they were done. The dentist said he did really well, told us he would probably have a tummy ache from the medicine and sent us home. After helping him to the couch to sleep off the rest of the medicine I turned my back for a minute, just long enough for Bailey to throw up all over the couch. Luckily he hadn't eaten anything that morning so it wasn't too messy. After throwing up a couple more times he slept for about 3 hours. He apparently didn't have a good reaction to the medicine they gave him to put him to sleep and threw up several more times throughout the day. I finally called the dentist around 2:30 and he called in a prescription to help keep him from throwing up but once he took it he of course threw it up! Needless to say he didn't eat anything all day. Around 9pm last night I finally got him to keep down some milk, thank goodness!

Today Bailey is home, he said he threw up early this morning, but he ate a bagel and drank some milk this morning and is feeling lots better now. I still have this awful cold, I'm thankful its the weekend soon. Josten is headed up to Salt Lake today to watch his girlfriend, Meaghan, swim. Jared has a new job that he started this week, he is a bagger at Smiths Grocery and James is hauling cars and finishing up the cabin he has been building. Like I said, it has been a very busy week! Let's hope next week is a little calmer!

Today was the ultra sound!

Well the big news is....we are having a BOY! Although I was kinda hoping for a little girl, James and I are just very happy he is healthy and doing so well. Today I should be 18 weeks and 6 days along, but he is measuring 20 weeks and 3 days, which, because of the miscarriage, is not at all possible so he just must be growing very well! Here are the ultrasound pictures and a video! He was moving around a lot while we were in there, he kicked (which I didn't feel) and James swears he was sucking his thumb! We heard his heart beating, I think she said it was around 147bpm.

Ready for the Weekend!

Its Friday!!! woohoo!!!

Not much going on in our family lately. James and I are very excited for Monday, hopefully the baby will cooperate and we will get to find out the gender! This weekend looks like its going to be pretty quiet, not much going on at our house except laundry and basketball.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Happy Wednesday!!

Well yesterday we took Bailey to the dentist. I made the appointment over a week ago and was able to keep it from him until I picked him up from school to go. Bailey doesn't like the dentist and I didn't want to freak him out until the very last minute possible. The bad news is he needs 5 teeth pulled because they are infected and could possibly infect his other teeth. The good news (for Bailey at least) is that they are going to put him to sleep to do all of this so he won't have to hear all the drilling and such that they will be doing on him. His appointment is Thursday, Jan 31st at 8 in the morning! The dentist said he should feel ok by the following day so off to school he will go! HEHE! The dentist is just following a long string of things Bailey has had wrong with him lately. On Friday, Jan 11th we took him to the doctors because he was complaining about a sore throat and had a fever. Come to find out that he had strep throat and a virus on his lips that made him break out in blisters. The poor thing could hardly open his mouth wide enough Saturday morning to drink from a straw. He is healthy now and doing well...luckily, no one else in the family caught any of what he had.

Update on the Cubby situation...James forgot the stuff to seal the door with yesterday while at his job so I had another night of letting the cat in and out all night. Only this time she decided she wasn't going out at all, she'd scratch and scratch until she heard me get out of bed then take off running...BRAT! So after 3 times of this I decided she could just scratch all night, so around 5 this morning she started in with the scratching and I just stayed in bed and then about 10 minutes later James gets out of bed to let her out! Can you believe it? He actually heard her. Anyway...the dumb cat goes out when he opens the door, I think she is messing with me! Hopefully he will remember the stuff to seal the door today and neither of us will have to get out of bed to let her out tonight. (Just talked to him and he says the stuff is already loaded in his truck...keep your fingers crossed for some peace tonight!!!)

OH! Exciting news, only 1 week left until the new season of LOST starts...will they get off the island??? I THINK NOT! Will we finally get some answers as to what is going on on the island??? I THINK NOT! Why am I so addicted to a show that is so annoying? It's James' fault, he was hooked on this show from the first episode. But hey...at least its something new to watch instead of re-runs.

Well that's all I've got for you today. Bring on the weekend!!!

After the long weekend!

So, I was planning on keeping this going even through the weekends, but that means getting Bailey off my computer long enough to type something and that just didn't seem possible!

The weekend was quiet for our family. Saturday I spent cleaning the kitchen and living room while James and the boys went to play basketball at the church. After that James and I made a quick run to St George to go to Costco, I love Costco! Later that evening we had friends over from church, we had dinner and played Apples to Apples (our new favorite game). Sunday we went to church, watched part of the Green Bay-Giants game (can you believe the Giants won in over time???), and then ate the yummy dinner I made-homemade chili with homemade bread bowls, I'm very proud of myself! I was actually planning on coming to work on Monday, but with so little to do and everyone else hanging out at home I decided to do the same. James' truck batteries (yes he has two of them) both stopped working so we ran into town to get him some new ones, luckily they were under warranty! Other than that we didn't do too much. I had a headache off and on all day, so I spent most of the day laying on the couch or napping in the bedroom. Dad was on his way back to Panguitch from Riverside and stopped by for dinner, that was fun. We were all watching Deal or No Deal...who else is addicted to that show? I want to be on it, who doesn't?
So we have this cat, Cubby. For those of you who don't know, we found her in our 5th wheel when she was probably about 3 weeks old, her eyes weren't even open yet. We (by we, I mean ME!) had to feed her with a bottle for a few weeks before she finally learned to eat out of a bowl. Anyway, we've had her now for almost 3 years I think, I think we found her in May of 2005. Cubby is my husbands cat. Even though I fed her and kept her alive she loves James way more then anyone else in the house. Here are some pictures of her, she is true to her name, she loves to hide in small little "cubby holes". We actually named her Cubby because of where we found her in the 5th wheel, in the little hole where the plumbing is at! My issue with this cat is this, at nights she wants to go outside. The only problem with this is that I'm the one who has to let her out, she scratches at the sliding door in our bedroom and cries until I open it for her. Do you think she'd stay out all night? Of course not! Instead she wants in and out all night long, usually about 3 times a night. I've threatened to wake James up every time she wants out but he sleeps so soundly that an earthquake wouldn't wake him up. Plus I sleep on the side of the bed with the slider...of course! This has been going on for almost a year now, if not more. I finally told James to go buy one of those cat/dog doors that you can insert into the slider, no cutting holes in doors required, it just slides in and then the slider closes up against it. It was perfect! Cubby learned to use it within one night, she was going in and out all she wanted and I was sleeping...YEAH FOR ME! Then Sunday night happened...you see, the slider didn't seal up very well against the cat door insert. James said he had the perfect stuff to use to seal it up on one of his jobs and was going to bring it home the next time he was out there. Which was fine, it was a little chilly at nights but we have a electric blanket that kept us very warm. But not Sunday night...Sunday night it was really really windy so the very cold air was blowing in through all the little cracks that weren't sealed yet plus through the cat door itself! Now, until James can get out to that job and get the stuff to seal the door, I'm back to letting the cat in and out 3 times a night and not sleeping! UGH. And last night was the biggest pain ever! She'd scratch at the door, then when I'd finally climb out of bed to let her out she'd just stand there and look out, then decide she didn't want out and walk into the living room. Anyway, hopefully James makes it out to that job today so I can go back to sleeping through the night!

How it all got started!

James was asking me last night why I decided to start a family blog. Earlier in the day when we were at lunch I was telling him about this amazing story I happened upon while reading the message boards on babyfit.com. It was about this couple, a young couple, living in New Zealand. They were pregnant with their second child and at their 20-week ultra sound they found out that their son had something wrong with him and probably wouldn't make it to term. The woman decided to carry him as long as she could. The beginning of this month she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, not only did she make it full-term, she in fact had him after her due date. The problem is that he probably will not live long; he wasn't expected to make it but a few hours after birth. He is now on Day 11! I have been following their story through her blog. It's amazing and it inspired me to do the same. In a way its a journal about your family that you can share with anyone who is interested. For me, I will print out these blogs and save them for my future generations to read. Its a lot easier then writing in a journal every night.

If you are interested in reading more about the family and little boy I was telling you about you can read her blog at this address, there are also pictures of her little boy:

So on a lighter note....IT'S FRIDAY!! Wooohooo! We don't have any special plans this weekend. A friend of ours, Mark Weller, turns 40 today (shhh don't tell him I told you!) so we are hoping to get together with Mark and Patti to celebrate his birthday, maybe have them over for dinner and to play some games. Other than that it should be pretty quiet around our house, which will be a nice change. Last night was pretty boring too. James and the boys really like to watch Smallville but it has been re-runs for so long because of the writers strike that we are watching re-runs of re-runs...its getting ridiculous! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Oh, by the way...Doug...you are such a geek! Once James told me he had sent you the link to this I knew it was you that left that comment! Hey by the way...those are YOUR RAIDERS that ended the season 4-12 right??? LOSERS! :)

This is a first!

Well welcome to our family blog! For those of you who are not family or a very close friend let me give you a little background on this family.

My husband and I met through mutual friends the summer 2003. We were engaged Christmas Eve of 2003 and married March of 2004. When we met James had 4 kids (Jadeth, Josten, Jared & Sabelle) and I had 1 (Bailey). At the time the kids ranged in age from 15 to 5, now they range in age from 20 to 9. Crazy how time flies! We've had our ups and downs through the few years we've been a family but so far they've only made us stronger! We've also moved a few times. We started in Spanish Fork, Utah, then moved to Riverside (Perris), California, now we live in Cedar City (Enoch), Utah. I love it here. It's a small town with great people and beautiful scenery. Currently James is in the construction industry with his own business and I work for a local home builder, all of that could change with the way the economy is going, time will tell.

This picture is, as you can tell, our wedding. The kids look really small then, now they look and act very grown up! Like I said, time flies!

Through the years the kids living with us has changed. When we first got married Jadeth and Bailey were the only ones living with us. Josten moved in when we moved to California and then Jadeth moved back with his mom shortly after that. Jared also lived with us for a while in CA, until we moved back to UT. I can't count how many times Jared had moved back and forth with us! Sabelle lived with us for a year, 2006/2007, but moved back with her mom this past summer. Right now we have Josten, Jared and Bailey living with us. Jadeth lives on his own in Cedar City. He works with James and its awesome to have him close by, he visits whenever we have something good for dinner (HA!). Just kidding Jadeth!

Our biggest news of 2007 was finding out we were expecting another addition to this family. We found out the beginning of August. Surprised and excited, we started to plan for this new addition. We had our first doctor's appointment at 8 weeks along, heard the heartbeat and the excitement began to build. Sadly, when I was suppose to be 10 weeks along (Sept 9th) I miscarried. It was a difficult time for the whole family. But the happiness of adding to our family did not diminish so now we are expecting again. Now, at 17 1/2 weeks along, we are excited for the ultra sound scheduled for January 28th...will it be a boy or a GIRL (pray for a girl!!!) Our due date is June 24th. This picture was taken at 7 1/2 weeks along, we are really excited for new picture!

So that's our family for now. I'm hoping to keep with this blog thing, it seems like a great way to keep everyone updated. I might even have the kids add things to it every once in a while. Feel free to leave us comments!
