Project 365 - I'm a little behind

I just realized that I haven't been posting my Project 365 layouts. Not that I have a lot of them done or anything, but I have had 3 layouts done for some time now that I haven't posted here on my blog. I'm really enjoying this project. Some days I almost forget to take a picture and end up taking a pretty silly one late at night (like this Wednesday I almost forgot so I took a picture of the TV with my favorite TV show on). For anyone who isn't doing this project I recommend it, even if you don't do scrapbooking layouts with them. It's just fun to see what you were doing 8 weeks ago in pictures. Plus its a great, fun way to get that journaling done. Anyway, here they are...

And here are the credits...

Teeth

I forgot to mention in my post about our trip to San Francisco that Asher now has 7 teeth! He has 4 on top and 3 on the bottom. I noticed he had a new one on top the day before we left for San Francisco and then the day we got there I noticed that his third bottom one must've come in before the top one because it is really showing. I can't believe that, at 8 months old, he has 7 teeth already! Goodness he'll be losing them when he is a year at this rate! Here is a cute picture of him trying to show off his teeth, you can't really tell that he has a third one down there but I promise it is there.

San Francisco Trip

Asher and I are finally home from our trip to San Francisco. We had a lot of fun, the weather could've been better but we made the best out of it. I was really amazed at how well Asher did on the plane, this being his first plane ride and all. He was so good, he didn't cry once! And after getting him up at 5:30am and him NOT falling back asleep the whole car ride to Vegas (well ok he slept for about 20 minutes) I was completely surprised he wasn't extremely cranky. But he was the perfect little boy, h e slept the first part of the plane ride and was awake playing with his neighbors the other part. Here is a picture of him right before take off.

Once we landed in San Fran (about 11am) James picked us up at baggage claim and then we were off to have some fun. First we stopped by the hotel to unload all our stuff. We had a great hotel room, with an even better view. Here is a picture of our view..I know, it's cloudy, but it was still a great view. We also had lunch at the little diner that was at the hotel. The food was ok, but the service was great. There was this lady there (who was there everyday we were), she just loved Asher and he loved her back. Of course he always has a great smile for everyone that talks to him.

After lunch and check in we headed for....where else, the Golden Gate Bridge. It had been several years (about 13) since I had last been to San Francisco, I don't remember much about that last trip, but I do know the bridge hasn't changed! It is still aw-inspiring. And just a little scary! I don't remember it being that high! Anyway, here are some more pictures :)

On Sunday we had planned on going to see a show around 5pm but they wouldn't let us in with an infant, James was a little bummed about that, and I was bummed we didn't get to walk around Fisherman's Wharf. The weather wasn't ideal for walking outside. We did get to have a great dinner though, I guess it's crab season in San Fran right now so we made sure we tried some...look at this plate full of crab legs! YUMMY!

Monday James had to make an appearance at the job site so Asher and I hung out at the hotel for most of the day, but James and I were both craving pizza for dinner so we went to this great little place recommended by the locals. It was yummy too! Here is a fun picture of me and Asher at the pizzeria.

It was a fun trip, we didn't do a whole lot. We just spent time with each other and I think that was the most important thing. James and I want to go back the next time he has to check on the job and go see Wicked, it's playing in San Fran now. That should be fun!

We had to get up at 5am this morning to make our flight. We are all pretty tired. But I did manage to get one picture before leaving San Francisco (HA! Barely) It's the view of the bay from our plane window...and just as a side note, Asher was fast asleep on me when I took this picture...that's right, he did a great job with his second plane ride also!

San Francisco here I come!

I am really excited to be going to San Francisco this weekend. It will be nice for James and I to get away for a few days and take a little vacation. I fly out of Vegas tomorrow at 9:25am which means I have to leave my house here in Enoch, UT at about 5:30am! YIKES that's very early for me and for Asher. James is flying out of Ontario, CA about two hours before I leave Vegas, but he doesn't have to drive 3 hours to get to his airport so he won't have to get up quit as early as I will.

Today I've been trying to get things all ready to go, doing laundry, cleaning the house (my in-laws are staying here, don't want them staying in a messy house) and of course packing. 5:30 is really early in the morning and I don't want to forget something so I'm hoping to have it all loaded in the Jeep before I go to sleep tonight.

We are having terrific weather here today. Its beautiful outside, probably close to 50 degrees, sun is bright and shiny. And as I look on my iphone to see what the weather will be in San Fran this weekend I find that, of course, it will be cloudy and rainy! Wonderful! I'm leaving good weather for the rain! I hope that doesn't hamper any fun we might have while we are in San Fran.

Well here a few more scrapbook pages I have done this week. I was up in my craft room earlier today and was looking at my paper scrapbook pages and realized how much I miss doing it on paper. Doing them digitally is a lot easier, but not nearly as much fun or as fun to look at as the paper pages. I might have to go back to doing them on paper! Well anyway, everyone have a great weekend! I'll be back Tuesday to fill everyone in on our trip :)

All of these layouts were done for some kind of challenge at www.elementalscraps.com

It should be Monday...

I guess since Monday was actually a holiday today is officially the first day of the week so it should be no surprise that today is acting like a Monday. First Bailey was a bear to get out of bed this morning. The extra long weekend made him forget his bed time! Then I had Bailey go start the Jeep so it would be warm before taking him to school (this is normal for us), but today Bailey must've accidentally hit the lock button because when we went to get into the Jeep to get him to school all the doors were locked. After trying unsuccessfully for 30 minutes to get into the Jeep I finally gave up and called the local police department. One of the good things about living in a small town like Enoch is that the police will come break into your car for you if you are silly enough to lock your keys in your car. I think it took the police officer all of 3 minutes to open the door. It was really nice of them to come help me considering it would've cost me close to $75 to have a locksmith come out and do it. So thank you Officer Browning! And now I'm wishing I had taken a picture for my picture of the day! Dang it!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was pretty busy for our family. James got his hair cut earlier in the afternoon and then once we got home I got ready for Whitnee's baby shower which was at 2. It was fun, she received so much stuff, mostly adorable little girl dresses and outfits. I think she has enough blankets to last until Jade is about 4! After that I came home to find James and Asher both asleep and SNORING! It was pretty cute. I got a picture of it but you can't quite capture the cuteness of them both laying there snoring in a picture. Around 4 James' parents came over to watch Asher for us while we went to a movie. We saw "New in Town", it was cute, a total girl movie...which I love James even more for taking me to. After the movie we came back home, picked up Asher and the 3 of us went to Ninja for dinner. We had a little bit of a wait but it was a lot of fun and I finally got to eat some sushi! Asher loved watching the guy do all of his tricks while he was cooking and he loved the soup! He was such a good boy considering it was way past his bed time by the time we got home. Oh and James bought me some great Valentine's gifts, I got a little teddy bear, flowers and fun bath stuff that smells really wonderful! He is so awesome!!!! I love you hunny, thanks for a great day!

Books and Movies

I love to read, some books I will read over and over because I enjoy them so much (Twilight series, Da Vinci Code, Where the Heart Is, etc.). I also read them more than once because I miss the characters, is that strange? As I'm reading I become a part of their imaginary world and when the book ends I miss them. That's why I love to read a series of books rather than just a single book, because their stories continue. I enjoy when they make books into movies because it gives me an idea of how others interpret the same book, but I also hate it because they always leave things out, things I consider very important. So, that would explain why I am excited and yet not thrilled to go see Angels & Demons, a book by the same author of Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown) that will be out in theaters in May. It stars Tom Hanks again, because it is the same main character, Robert Langdon. I am a big fan of Tom Hanks so I know it will be a great movie, but will it follow the book? Its been such a long time since I've read the book that I may re-read it again. Maybe I'll start it tonight after LOST, and I have a goal to read 10 books this year so that will kill two birds with one stone (hmmm I wonder if my goal was to read 10 NEW books...I better check on that).

On a completely different topic I drove into town today to run some errands and was instantly depressed as I drove down Main Street in Cedar City and found several businesses closing down or already closed. Its scary the way this economy is going. It makes me extremely grateful that James has a job right now. Will it continue to get worse? Will it turn around sooner than later? A neighbor of ours just lost their house and so many others are in fear of losing them. All of this craziness makes me wonder how we, as a nation, don't learn from past mistakes. But then I realize all the times I made mistakes OVER AND OVER again and didn't learn from them until it was too late. I pray that this nation won't be too late! I also pray that my friends and family will find the strength and willingness to make it through these difficult times without losing too much of themselves. I wish I was very wealthy so I could help all my family make it through this mess, but I'm not...maybe one day :)

So until I am very wealthy I'm going to do what makes me happy and that's hanging out with my kids, my husband, enjoying this time I have with them all...and of course scrapping all those memories for you all to see! On that note...here is an adorable page I did with James and Asher! That middle picture of them looking at each other is priceless! Every dad should have a picture of him and his little boy fixing something together!

Random Stuff

Hello everyone out there in blog land that reads my blog (all 3 of you! HA!)

Well yesterday was James' 41st birthday and I don't think he had a very good day. First off he had to get up at 3am to drive back to CA so he could be at work on time. He hit all kinds of crazy weather on his drive there. Then work has been so crazy for him, he is trying to play catch up and they just keep dumping stuff on his desk that is "URGENT", well it doesn't work well when everything is urgent! And after all of that he went back to my dad's house where he is staying and was all alone. My dad and family are up in Tahoe for the week so he played on his computer and little bit then went to bed early. Not being with your family every night just sucks!

We got more snow last night and this morning but it appears to be melting already, which makes me very happy! Asher is feeling better. He still has a runny nose but the cough seems to be going away, which also makes me happy.

Here are a few more scrapbook layouts I've done in the past couple of days, as promised, one for my Uncle Ron who just recently passed away. Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Wooohooo it's Friday!!! I'm so excited that my hubby is coming home today. I know he isn't too excited about the drive but I know he is excited to see his family. Monday is his birthday so we will be having a little family gathering on Saturday to celebrate.
Well Asher is sick again. He has another cold. It must be from going from the cold weather in Utah to the nice warm sunny weather in California and then back again. Poor little guy, I swear he is always sick. He still hasn't started crawling yet but he is so close. I wonder if I'm ready for him to be crawling....probably not.
So here are a few more layouts I've done recently but haven't gotten around to posting because life has been so hectic.

Losing Family

It's the end of a very long weekend for me finally. Tuesday the 27th of January my dad let me know that my Uncle Ron was in the hospital and probably only had about a week left to live. I made plans to pack up and head to California as soon as Bailey's Pinewood Derby was over Thursday evening, but then I got the dreaded call Wednesday morning that Ron didn't even make it through the night and had passed away right around midnight. I quickly packed and was on the road headed to California by 2pm. Asher has never really enjoyed being in the car, all the over trips we have ever taken have always been with me and James so it was easy to sit in the back with him and keep him happy, but this time it was just me and Asher and it made for a very long 7 hour car ride to California. The services were Saturday but my family is Irish and the wake started sometime Friday afternoon. The services went very well and my heart goes out to my cousin Jennifer who not only had to plan her father's funeral but also had to deal with certain family members who only wanted Ron's belongings and had no remorse for what she was going through. My Uncle Ron is my dad's twin brother, and at 54, was way too young to have passed away already. The last time I saw him was in California around New Year's Eve, actually it was on their 54th birthday, everyone had gathered at my dad's house for a little celebration and Ron's homemade clam chowder. Even though Ron was a grumpy man most of the time, he was very giving and always made you laugh. I will miss him, but mostly my heart breaks for his daughter who is currently pregnant with his first grandchild and my dad who has now lost the only two brothers he had. My uncle loved fishing, I am in the process of making a scrapbook page in honor of him...but for now here are some pictures of my uncle, my dad's twin brother, a father, and soon to be grandfather!...may he rest in peace!
