2012 Recap

Yup, its that time of year again.  Time for me to recap what happened in our family for the year because I forgot to post things to my blog as they happened instead!  I'm sure I'll be working on this post for a few days since, like last year, I plan on going month to month.  Here we go...

January 2012

Beginning of the month James started working for Halliburton in Rock Springs, WY.  He started training on the 6th and had training for 6 weeks.  The kids and I went to visit him on the 13th - 16th.  I wasn't excited about moving to Rock Springs from Enoch but we had to go where the work was so we spent some of the time looking for a place to move.  It was crazy!  Because work was plentiful in Rock Springs there were NO rentals available.  On the 16th the boys and I headed home to Enoch and had a pretty serious car accident on our way home....see this post for more information on that.  Other things that happened in January... (1) I found the wonderful world of Pinterest (love it!!) and (2) we had a crazy snow storm in Enoch.

February 2012

February was pretty quiet for us.  James celebrated his 44th birthday on the 9th.  Connor started pulling himself up on stuff like his toy box and dresser.  More snow was dumped on Enoch, Bailey and Asher decided to go outside and sled in it, they had a blast!.  Spent the whole month trying desperately to find a place in Rock Springs to live.  But the most exciting thing that happened in February was the birth of our grandson McKennan on the 17th.  What a little cutie this boy is!!!

March 2012

In March James started to fix my excursion.  Packing began for our move to Rock Springs even though we didn't have a place to move to.  Our house in Enoch sold and closed on the 21st, we sure miss that place sometimes.  Connor started to get brave enough to let go of things while standing, walking was just around the corner.  Connor also got his 5th tooth and learned to clap this month.  James and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on the 20th, our gift to each other?  Loading the moving truck, surprisingly enough it wasn't the first time we were moving on our anniversary...isn't that sad?  I was pretty excited to see the Hunger Games movie since I had read the book 4 times prior to the movie coming out.  Bailey got a dirt bike which he LOVES!  And James got himself a new Dodge Ram truck...which he LOVES!  The last week of the month we finally found a place to live in Rock Springs...thank goodness!  OH! and once we moved into our new house Asher finally started driving around his motorized Jeep that he received from Santa for Christmas...yes, what I'm telling you is that he sat in the garage for 3 months before he was finally brave enough to try it out!

April 2012

On the 2nd, Jade, our granddaughter, turned 3.  Connor started walking the end of March/beginning of April and had it down by the middle of the month.  He also cut his 6th and 7th tooth, he was growing so fast!  Most of the month the boys and I spend a lot of time outside either in our backyard or at parks.  We spend Easter at home not doing much, James had to work (this will become a trend with all holidays this year, just wait!).  Bailey got me hooked on the TV series "How I Met Your Mother" and we watched all the old episodes on Netflix.  It was a pretty quiet month for us.  Around the end of April Josten came up from St. George and started his stay with us.

May 2012

The beginning of the month James, the little boys and me went for a drive around Flaming Gorge.  It took us most of the day but it was fun.  Bailey turned 14 on the 14th and Connor turned 1 on the 19th.  For Memorial Day (the whole week before) we drove to Southern Utah to visit family and go camping.  James had the week off so we spent 3 days in Cedar City visiting friends and family and then 3 days camping at Baker Reservoir just outside of St. George.  My dad and Kim came to meet us there and we had a great time fishing and just hanging out, even though it was really windy.  Sometime in May Josten convinced me to start the workout program called Insanity...and it's just that...INSANE!  Other exciting news in May was that Jadeth and Manda got married and also found out that they were expecting their first baby (Jadeth's second but their first together) in February 2014.

June 2012

Still doing the Insanity workouts with Josten, I made it through the first month without dying!  We celebrated Asher's 4th birthday on the 20th.  Our little garden started to blossom, we were growing tomatoes, peppers and zucchini.  Connor and Asher got a new toy, a  trampoline.  They, of course, loved it.  At the end of the month, when Bailey finished middle school, he went to his dads house for a few weeks.

July 2012

For the 4th of July we went to Cedar City since James had the week off.  But before driving down there we drove 4 hours out of our way to Casper, WY so James could meet with the Cement Division of Halliburton for a new job.  We had a great time in Cedar City.  We hung out with our friends the Wellers, watched fireworks out by the Cedar City Airport and had a BBQ with family and friends.  The hotel we stayed at had an outdoor swimming pool and the little boys were in heaven, especially Asher.  The middle of July Asher and I went on a mommy/son date to see the new Spiderman movie.  We had to leave early because the big lizard freaked Asher out.  The end of July James started work in Casper, WY which meant it was time to start packing up again for another move! UGH!

August 2012

Since James was working in Casper the little boys and I went to visit him there.  He was in a hotel room so I took the little boys swimming a couple of times and we drove around a lot looking for another place live.  Around the 19th we loaded up a few of our belongings and moved to Casper.  We had to get there because it was time for Bailey to start high school and I wanted him to be there the first day.  We still didn't have a place to live so we lived in the hotel room with James.  It was crowded and crazy.  It meant a lot of eating out which we all got sick of quickly!  On the 21st Bailey started his first day of high school at Kelly Walsh High.  Go Trojans!

September 2012

One really exciting thing for me about living in Casper was finding out what all the excitement is about Hobby Lobby....I LOVE that place!!!  We were still living in a hotel room, in fact we lived in it the WHOLE month.  The first week of September we went back down to Rock Springs and moved all our stuff out of the house we were renting and into a storage unit in Casper.  Honestly, I'm surprised we all made it out of that living arrangement in one piece.  Over 6 weeks in a hotel room with 5 people! YIKES!  The middle of the month we went to a monster truck show, and of course the little boys loved it.  At the end of the month we finally found a place to live...we actually had to buy a house instead of renting one because it was even more impossible to find a rental in Casper than it was in Rock Springs. The weekend we signed papers we also went to Lagoon Amusement Park in Northern Utah where we met Jared, Kimmie and McKennan who had driven up from St George.  It was a quick trip but it was fun.  On the 3rd Sabelle turned 19 and on the 10th her and Chad celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

October 2012

October came in with a roar, on the 4th we got our first snow storm.  With the storm came my fear that we had moved to a place that was gonna be covered in snow from October to April!  Luckily it melted away and we didn't get anymore the rest of the month.  The middle of the month James got promoted at work to a pumper.  It was a big deal for him since he had only been in the cement department for 2.5 months and usually people don't get promoted that quickly.  Also, we were finally able to get the Excursion fixed completely from the accident in January, can't believe it took 10 months!  For Halloween Asher was Batman and Connor was Robin.  It was so cute!  I took the little boys our trick or treating and I was really surprised how few kids I saw out and about.  I think we had a total of 5 or 6 knocks on our door and we live in a neighborhood were the houses are close, the prefect neighborhood for trick or treating.

November 2012

For the month of November I try to post one thing that I'm grateful for each on Facebook.  You can see a list of those here.  Gas prices really started to drop in November.  The beginning of the month fuel was about $3.26 a gallon and by the end of the month I'm pretty sure we were under $3 a gallon, probably close to $2.86 a gallon.  The beginning of the month Josten moved up from Rock Springs to come stay with us.  Also, James' parents, Jack and Florene, moved in with us.  Jack has be diagnosed with Dementia and he was getting to the point that Florene couldn't handle him on her own.  It was a huge adjustment for me and the boys but we love them and we are happy to have them here with us.  I have been really grateful that Josten has been here to help me with grandpa!  I celebrated my 37th birthday on the 18th and Jadeth turned 26 on the 8th.   For Thanksgiving we were happy to have James home with us for dinner.  He was working and was waiting to get called out at any time.  Luck for him and us he didn't get called our until around 7pm, which gave him plenty of time to have turkey and pie!  On the 27th we had a new visitor come to our house for Christmas.  Gordon, our Elf on the Shelf, was mailed to us from the North Pole.  The boys had such a blast with him around.  You can see all his fun antics around our house here.

December 2012

December was so much fun with the two little boys and the Christmas season.  Gordon, our elf, showed up each morning with a surprise.  By the end of the first week of Gordon showing up Connor would wake up and immediately look for Gordon's new spot, he was so excited to find him every morning.  The middle of the month I registered for Spring semester at University of Wyoming so I could finish my teaching degree.  Around the same time a huge wave of sickness hit our house.  At first we had the flu that hit everyone but me (luckily!), then, a week or so later some of us caught the cold with fever and a cough.  I wasn't lucky enough to escape that also.  For 3 days I was miserable!  The 21st came and went without the world ending...HA!  Bailey flew to his dads on the 23rd.  James was working the week of Christmas so instead of having Christmas dinner on Christmas we had it Christmas Eve because James thought he was gonna get called out Christmas morning.  We had a yummy prime rib (our new tradition of 3 years), baked potatoes and salad.  I made everyone Christmas pj bottoms and we let the little boys open up one gift before going to bed on Christmas Eve.  Christmas morning was awesome!  I love having little kids during Christmas, especially when they are old enough to understand the excitement of Santa Claus!  Funny thing...James never did get called out on Christmas Day so he was able to spend the whole day with us.  I really missed my family but we had a great day!  On the 31st Bailey flew home from his dads, we had to leave Casper at 5:30am to get to Denver in time for his flight to land which meant I barely stayed awake until midnight and was fast asleep by 12:30!  It was a quiet night, we had pizza and birthday cake for Josten's 23rd birthday.  On the 29th Jared turned 22.

(I might come back and add pictures to this post, but for now I'm tired and publishing it just like this!!!)
